IMTEK is successfully represented at microTEC Cluster Conference 2024

Innovative technologies from microsystems engineering

From 16th to 17th of April 2024, the Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK) of the Faculty of Engineering took part in the MicroTEC Cluster Conference, an important network meeting of the microsystems technology industry. The conference took place at the Konzerthaus Freiburg and provided a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience between researchers, industry and other players in the field of microsystems engineering.

IMTEK presented itself with a stand and showcased innovative microsystems with numerous exhibits from various chairs. The throwing game organized by the nanodiag BW future cluster was particularly fun.

Prof Thomas Stieglitz, Biomedical Microtechnology, moderated the session "Ultrasound in Application" and introduced IMTEK to the conference participants. The two presentations by Alina Kohler (Challenges of a new approach for the integration of an electrical circuit into a stent) and Benedikt Szabo (Biomedical ultrasound for the energy supply of deep-seated implants and cardiovascular wearables) showed high-tech topics in the field of biomedical microtechnology which are currently under research at IMTEK.

Another highlight was the "Young Talents meet Industry" poster session, in which Nicolas Geid won the first place (Magnetic microactuators by two-photon lithography).

By exchanging knowledge and experience with around 200 experts from Germany and abroad, the IMTEK researchers were able to expand their network, identify new opportunities for cooperation and gain important inspiration for future research projects.

Overall, IMTEK's participation in the MicroTEC Cluster Conference was a great success and helped to further strengthen its profile as one of the world's largest and leading academic institutions in the field of microsystems engineering.
