A successful start

Intercultural workshop paves the way for international students to start their studies.

An intercultural workshop for international Master's students took place at the Faculty of Engineering on 7 October 2024. Organized by Ursula Epe and Ester Gnandt, the event helped the 26 participants to prepare for the cultural differences and challenges of studying in Germany.

The training included theoretical input and interactive group activities. Firstly, key concepts of intercultural communication were introduced to give students a better understanding of cultural differences and the German higher education system.

In the interactive part, the students were able to reflect on their own culture and compare it with that of their fellow students. These practical exercises encouraged dialogue and built confidence in dealing with new challenges.

The Faculty of Engineering attaches great importance to the integration of international students and is actively committed to giving them a warm welcome. Such a workshop makes it easier for international students to start their studies by promoting both academic and social understanding and is therefore an essential part of supporting international students.
