At the 7th Annual Concertation and Consultation Workshop on Micro-Nano-Bio Convergence Systems (MNBS 2013) on 24-25 September in Cork/Ireland, where more than 20 EU-funded projects were presented, Dr. Konstantinos Mitsakakis received the Innovation Award for his presentation on the Innovation Process and Exploitation Strategies of the EU project DiscoGnosis that he coordinates. The project (Disc-shaped Point-of-Care Platform for Infectious Disease Diagnosis) seeks to develop a platform which would allow the detection of malaria and similar pathogenic diseases in a rapid, multiplexed and non-invasive way.

MNBS 2013 emphasised on innovation and technology implementation for improving European competitiveness and citizen‘s life. The programme included oral and poster presentations from running and finished R&D projects, coordinated and support actions presentations and invited sessions, bringing technologies and solutions providers closer to business and to end-users, technology roadmaps and ideas to build the innovation supply chain.
