Actome GmbH nominated as high potential startup by the European Innovation Council (EIC)

Actome will receive financial support from the EIC Accelerator Program in the amount of EUR 2.5 million as a research grant and additional equity of approximately EUR 2.3 million.

In a highly competitive selection process, the European Innovation Council (EIC) has chosen 78 European start-ups and SMEs with high potential from more than 1,000 applications.

Actome GmbH, a life science spin-off from the IMTEK laboratory for MEMS Application Hahn-Schickard, has convinced the expert jury of the European Innovation Council of its patented PICO technology: it is based on the recognition of individual protein molecules and protein interaction complexes and the translation of the protein status into DNA barcodes. The amplified DNA barcodes can be detected either by fluorescence measurement (dPCR) or next generation sequencing (NGS). The EIC Accelerator Program supports the development of new products that can be read by NGS. These new products will enable detection of a large number of targets.
