As of May 2005, a team of three IMTEK professors were appointed as the new (Board of) Directors at the “Institute of Micro and Information Technology” of the Hahn-Schickard-Foundation” (HSG-IMIT). Professors Holger Reinecke, Yiannos Manoli and Roland Zengerle of the Institute of Microsystem Technology (IMTEK) of the University of Freiburg jointly head the HSG-IMIT in Villingen –Schwenningen.

Professor Holger Reinecke is the speaker of the board and leads the Technology Department. Professor Yiannos Manoli is responsible for Sensors and Systems while Professor Roland Zengerle heads the Microfluidics Unit. These three fields have long been established as business units at the HSG-IMIT and are now expanded by introducing new research areas that provide a broad base for the future directions at the institute.
Dr. H. Stallforth, Head of the Executive Board of the HSG, sees the following advantages of the new constellation: “We achieve a better transfer of basic research to applications. We improve the recruiting of new scientists for the Institute by having access to the top students in Freiburg. In conclusion we have set the foundation for a decisive economic growth. All these lead to a bright future for the HSG-IMIT in Villingen-Schwenningen.”
