Milestone reached: access 400 tutorials about data analysis for free
The Galaxy Training Network (GTN, https://training.galaxyproject.org) has reached an exciting milestone: the 400th tutorial (https://training.galaxyproject.org/training-material/news/2024/06/06/400-tutorials-milestone.html)!
This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the GTN community of educators, researchers, and developers over the last 9 years.
The GTN was established to provide comprehensive and accessible training materials for users of the Galaxy, a widely-used, open-source platform that empowers researchers worldwide to conduct data analysis. Over the years, the network has massively grown, both in content and community engagement, reflecting the dynamic nature of scientific research and the continuous need for up-to-date training resources. Over 30 scientific fields are covered by GTN tutorials. Learning pathways guide users through data analysis of different research fields starting with introductory tutorials to complex ones for more advanced users. Communities from e.g. life science, climate science, astrophysics, material science find a huge number of high-quality trainings online which are used for self-learning and education. Many tutorials can be used to run the data analysis on one of the public Galaxy servers with the European Galaxy server (https://usegalaxy.eu) located at the University of Freiburg being the biggest European instance with over 95,000 users.
After free registration, users get 250 GB storage and access to a huge computational infrastructure, more than 3,500 bioinformatics tools and workflows. The Galaxy Training Network provides a bunch of tutorials which can be used independent of the Galaxy infrastructure, e.g. programming with Python. Trainings and workshops are offered around the globe and mostly free of charge (https://galaxyproject.org/events).
