Abhinav Valada receives 2023 IEEE RAS Early Career Award

Prof. Abhinav Valada, Department of Computer Science (IIF), has received the prestigious 2023 IEEE RAS Early Academic Career Award in Robotics and Automation “for contributions to learning and perception for robot navigation”. This award is bestowed on current members of IEEE who are in the early stage of their career, and who have made an identifiable contribution or contributions which have had a major impact on the robotics and/or automation fields.

The award was presented at the 2023 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) in London.

Valada leads the Robot Learning Lab and is a member of the BrainLinks-BrainTools Center and ELLIS Unit Freiburg. His research explores ways to enable robots to autonomously navigate and interact with the world using robotics and artificial intelligence.
