Bertha-Ottenstein Prize for Gender Equality and Diversity Awarded to kite mentoring

Recognition of 10 Years of Successful Support for Women in Science and Research.

The University of Freiburg has awarded the prestigious Bertha-Ottenstein Prize for Gender Equality and Diversity to the program for the advancement of women kite-mentoring. The €5,000 prize is awarded annually to outstanding projects and initiatives that demonstrate innovative approaches and structural improvements in the field of gender equality and the promotion of women. Along with the Justitia Mentoring Program, kite-mentoring is being recognized for its long-standing commitment to supporting female scientists in the natural and life sciences.

For over 10 years, kite-mentoring has supported the strategic career development of women in the doctoral and postdoctoral phases. With a comprehensive offering that includes mentoring, training, networking, and coaching, the program has now connected over 300 mentees and alumnae. This success story is being honored with the Bertha-Ottenstein Prize, emphasizing the significance of such support programs for scientific progress and equal opportunities.
