The Board of Trustees of Villa Aurora & Thomas Mann House awarded Professor Manoli a Thomas Mann Fellowship. From October to December 2018 he will be one of the first scholarship recipients in the former residence of Thomas Mann while in exile.

In June, Yiannos Manoli accompanied German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on his trip to California for the inauguration of the Thomas Mann House in Pacific Palisades. The house was acquired by the German government in 2016 with the intention of turning it into a place of a renewed transatlantic dialogue.

Such an exchange of ideas was initiated during a meeting of the German President and his delegation with experts in Silicon Valley. The discussion focused on the challenges and fundamental changes in society resulting from widespread digital transformation and its consequences for democracy.
