The simulation group is co-organizing a workshop on topographic and morphological structure of material interfaces. Structure of materials often emerges during deformation, and our workshop is bringing together exports that are looking at the emergence of structure from different (experimental and theoretical) perspectives.

We are specifically looking at understanding the structure of fracture surfaces, the emergence of surface roughness during plastic deformation, the evolution of interface morphology during frictional loading and structure from elastic instabilities.

The workshop is co-organized with James Kermode (University of Warwick), Gianpietro Moras (Fraunhofer IWM) and Alessandro de Vita (King's College London) and will take place from July 24-27, 2018, in Lausanne. Registration is presently open. More information can be found here.
