Remanufacturing: Better than new!

INATECH develops new DIN standard to increase the potential of remanufacturing

Manufacturing new products from used components with the same or even improved functionality and performance saves raw materials, energy and costs. For this so-called remanufacturing, a new industry standard now ensures trust, reliability and transparency.

DIN SPEC 91472, which was developed under the leadership of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Balle and M.Sc. Hannes Geist from INATECH, is the prelude to the implementation of the German standardization roadmap for the circular economy.

The consortium consisted of experts from science, the automotive industry, aviation, the commercial vehicle industry, mechanical engineering, measuring technology, and product and circular economy law.
